Retired Special Educator; HR Consultant Married Chris Miller Kids; Grand kids; Dogs; Traveling; Hiking; Biking; Snowshoeing; Kayaking; Gardening; Reading/Book Group; first woman on Acton, MA Board of Assessors; Acton Senior Tax Assistance Committee 2012-09-12 14:39:40
I married Chris while an undergraduate at Wells College. We lived in Ithaca while we finished college and graduate school (Chris/Cornell).  We then moved to Acton, Massachusetts, where we still live and work. The Boston area has been a great place to live.  Here we raised our two terrific daughters, Lisa and Kyra. They both live and work in the Atlanta area with their fine spouses and our four wonderful grandchildren, all of whom give us such pleasure.

Chris continues to work as a scientist, contemplating retirement -- some time.  Most of my career was spent as a special educator working with children with behavioral issues -- challenging but enjoyable work.Perhaps my years at OHS were good preparation!  I also worked in HR in high tech for a number of years.

Chris and I have been fortunate to travel widely.  Our favorite place, though, is NC's Outer Banks, where the family always returns and where my Now photo was taken with Chris, our daughter, Lisa, and her children, Nicki and Chris.

It's hard to believe that it's really been 50 years since we left OHS!  I remember Jessie Fleischman as the best teacher, who instilled an appreciation for critical reading and careful writing.  Ruth (Wales) Young imparted a love of words and of language.  Her sister, Margaret Wales, was of unfailing good cheer, and also encouraged this challenged math student to take chances.  Some other teachers are best forgotten. In some ways, it feels like yesterday that we were walking the halls of OHS, caught up in the drama of high school.  How little we knew of life, but we were young and hopeful, always ready for a good time.  In retrospect, I wouldn't trade my years at OHS and Campus School for anything.

It's been a pleasure working with those of us involved in Reunion planning. Reunion will be a fun filled weekend with lots of opportunities to reconnect with former classmates. Hopefully, the Class of 1962 will have a stellar turnout in August.
