Oh what a great website.  I am enjoying looking at the photos, reliving the memories of high school and sharing with my children what Oswego was like 50 years ago.  Here is a little information about me.  I am enjoying the retired life.  I have four children, Michael (45), Colleen (43), Tammy (41) and Scott (39).  I have four grandchildren, Elizabeth (21), Ryan (16), Ross (10) and Alex (8).  The bright light in my life is my Great-Grandson, Eddie (2).  He has named me is "TA-TA" and I cherish every time he says it.

Volunteer contribution: Blood donor on a regular basis.
Married 40 years to my wife Carol who is a retired (English, Special Children and English as a second language) teacher. I am a retired "self employed businessman", that specialized in construction products.
We have resided in four areas over those forty years: 2 yrs. in Potsdam, NY; 2 yrs. in Oakfield, NY; 32 years in Houston, Tx; and retired 5 yrs. ago
and moved to Las Vegas, NV. We love Las Vegas and the Southwest the most. Las Vegas has approximately 325 days of sun a year, so there's plenty of nice days to take early morning walks and enjoy the sunrise coming over the mountain horizon.
In the past 3 yrs. I have become a self educated "stock researcher, trader and investor". I start my day early usually at 4:30 a.m. After the market closes, I"shoot basketball hoops" at Lifetime Fitness and then work out.

Retired 12/2009. Implemented and supported financial systems for senior financial management in
multi-national corporations.
Widowed 3 Bob 1960 Gardening, house restoration, history, reading, old movies. I'm retired now. None of that stuff is important any more. 2015-06-27 15:53:15
My sister Betsy, our daughter Lesley, our grandaughter Evelyn (age8) and our grandson Andrew (age 10) live with us in Mahwah, NJ so the house is generally lively. Our two other children, Christopher and Sarah, live close by along with two more granddaughters Riley (age 10)and Piper (age 18 months). We are fortunate to be able to see them often. Bob and I met in room 313 study hall in 1959 and married in December 1965. We moved to Long Island where he was an engineer with Grumman Aerospace. We had twins in 1968, a daughter Lesley and a son Christopher. I started doing home typing (how they labeled junk mail before computers) to earn the down payment for our first house while Bob went to grad school to change careers from engineering to finance/accounting. We bought a house in Deer Park on Long Island but were only in it for 18 months when he accepted a job in Central New Jersey. I was a stay at home mom in Old Bridge, NJ while he traveled the country for his new job. We had Sarah in 1973. He was transferred to Northern New Jersey in 1976 and we bought a house in Ridgewood. It was the big, old house we had always dreamed of restoring and 23 years later it was done. I went to work in 1978 when we blew out the attic to add two bedrooms and a bath. Old houses are notorious for presenting construction problems and ours was no exception. The list became untenable and the purse was thin. I was volunteering about 20 hours a week for various organizations, sitting on the boards of several. I decided there had to be something I could do that someone would pay me for. The ad said no experience necessary (good because I had none) and the hours were 6pm to midnight (good because Bob was home from work at 5). I was hired and became a computer operator at a bank two blocks from our house.  Thus my career in IT was launched. My training was on the job augmented by IBM and vendor courses at their training centers. I had many different titles - from computer operator to director of financial systems - with many different areas of responsiblity for a variety of companies. The majority of my 30 year career was spent in retail apparel - Manhattan Industries, Liz Claiborne, Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger - but it was always doing basically the same thing: implementing and maintaining J.D. Edwards financial systems and taking care of users. My job was to make sure the finance and accounting departments could do theirs. It was challenging and ever so much fun. The final seven years were spent consulting with GL Associates in Jersey City for all kinds of companies. In 2005 we sold the house in Ridgewood and downsized to a much smaller house in Mahwah. I retired at the end of 2009. Bob collapsed on January 6, 2010 and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on January 10. Thus I began my next career as a 24/7 caregiver and advocate. My beloved Bob died on August 2,2012, two weeks before the reunion. I was so looking forward to the reunion. Working with the committee has been fantastic. I discovered that friendships I had 50 years ago, and let lapse as life took me in a different direction and to a different place, were still firmly intact. I also developed new ones with classmates I never really knew that well when we were in school. The love and support I received from classmates I have not seen or communicated with all those years has been incredible. The encouragement you offered over the last two years sustained me through those long, dark days and I am so grateful to all of you. Thank you. Send Martha a MessageSend Martha a Message
