Married 1 Theresa 2012-08-06 20:40:36

I’m happy to say that I got a bonus when I was asked to help find our classmates … I was able to personally reconnect with so many of you that I haven’t seen in such a long time. Some were shocked by my call and a few didn’t even recognize my name, so I talked to some for a few minutes and others for a few hours. I can’t possibly describe the wonderful feelings, and I look forward to a great reunion get-together.

I graduated from Michigan Technological University with a BS in Civil Engineering. Employment brought me back to Oswego, and it was here that I met my wife (Theresa) of 41 years. Company transfers brought us to Boston, then Tampa, back to Oswego, then Baton Rouge, and finally back to Oswego, where we still reside. I worked my way up through the ranks, and spent many years as a construction and project manager in the fossil fuel and nuclear power industry. I also became certified in the Uniform Building Code by New York State. I am very fortunate that the Oswego area was able to provide a career path for me, and that I was able to remain close to my parents and 7 other siblings.  My dad still resides at the homestead at age 95 … wow … hope I have some of those genes!

Theresa and I have one son, Joe II.

While living in Oswego, I designed and built our family home. This project was truly a labor of love. I became a mason, carpenter, millwright, roofer, plumber, electrician, painter, and on and on. We moved in after 2 years of slow, hands-on construction, and just about had it finished after 5 years work. It was here that I learned how to be a stone mason, hand splitting 38 tons of granite boulders for about 1100 square feet of stone walls and our fireplace.

My interests include power boating and sailing, hunting, fishing, fly tying, rod building, golf and golf club building, woodworking, gunstock checkering, restoring old one-arm bandits (slot machines), welding, stone masonry. I once had a love for downhill skiing, with winter vacation trips to Aspen, Colorado and Park City, Utah, but sore knees have put an end to that.

I retired in 2002 and soon thereafter started working on my lengthy honey-do list … beginning with rebuilding our deck and replacing the roof. After those were done, I started restoring my one-owner 1970 Corvette coupe. In 2009, my youngest brother purchased 75 acres of undeveloped waterfront property on the west side of Little Sodus Bay (Fair Haven), and asked me if I could help him develop it into a vineyard and winery. What a hoot this project is … I like to say that I can learn from 5-year-olds if they’ve ever worked on a farm. We learned by trial an error, attended seminars, and utilized the services of consultants, resulting so far into about 11 acres of vinifera plants, hopefully harvestable this coming fall. Since my brother resides in Arizona and spends summers here, I am the project manager, engineer, surveyor, equipment operator, farm hand, tour guide, and gopher all at the same time.

Hi Classmates:
After graduation I went to work for The Palladium Times Newspaper.  Three years later I married my husband Ed.  We have five children, Lisa, twins
Donna & Denise, Ed Jr. (LT. Col. USAF) and Cynthia.  Seven wonderful grandchildren, Joshua, 19, Katelyn 17, Ryan 17, Chad, 15, Emily 10, Edward III, (Teddy) 9, and Shannon 7.
While my family was young I ran a day care center in my home until 1983.  I returned to the work force at the Oswego City School District.
I retired after 21 years of service, then in the fall of 2004, my husband of 39 1/2 years suddenly passed away.
In my retirement now I volunteer for the Human Concern Food Pantry, and for the YMCA special events. I am an avid reader.  My grandchildren have always loved it when I would sew them their PJ's and Nightgowns. I love to travel.
I am looking forward to the reunion and want to Thank the committee for all their hard work.
A special Thank you to Martha for setting up this web site.  It's fantastic!!!
